You can have separation anxiety with this?

I thought that the separation anxiety really happened only to children. Adults can get it too? I'm in a relationship long distance, and I'm constantly worried about what might happen between us because of distance. I know it would be much easier if we lived in the same place, but it is not possible now. I have a hard time sleeping, and I worry with things that could happen to him when I'm not there. I do not think I have control problems, but it is difficult for me because this is my first boyfriend, so I never even been in a relationship at all before, even when I see people all the time.
