Based on the fact that Buspar (buspirone) relieve her symptoms, she has depression, anxiety or both?
My girlfriend suffers from feelings journals intense worthlessness, loneliness, existential crises and type. They have occurred occasionally since before we started dating two years ago. She tried, but he stopped an SSRI secondary side effects. She asked that Buspar was reluctantly prescribed to her. She thinks it really helps. When she stops taking it for a week or so, she has to epidose feelings of worthlessness absolute loneliness, crying. She denies changes in diet, sleep cycles, attention, etc. Buspar is an anxiolytic right? It should help with depression (which is that it seems to me), right? If you are working it means only that she suffers from anxiety? Please help. What should we expect for the future? Is this will be a nightmare for the rest of your life? I do not think it meets criteria for major depression in DSM or GAD but … What should we do from here? Marry before getting this under control a bad idea?
Buspar is an anxiolytic. Some things are intertwined when it comes to anxiety and depression. They kind of go hand in hand in some people. Furthermore, anxiety may appear to manifest themselves as depression. Symptoms may appear as depression. See anxiety as an avalanche of emotions that sometimes can make someone angry, tearful, withdrawn, etc., and can seem overwhelming. The two are so closely related. If buspar help, I would encourage her to take it faithfully. If you love her, this can be worked. Just know that you may be dealing with this for a living. But, could be the worst way to choose to look on the bright side of what she brings to the relationship. And remember, if you have children with her, the trend could be there for their children to experience these things yourself. I'm not discouraging children, but it might help to know what to look for as they grow. One last thought, you do not says how old is your girlfriend, but with age, everyday things that affect us deeply seem to become increasingly less important. With age we begin to realize some things just are not worth getting upset. Good luck to you and your girlfriend.
